From 1462c59981be546d4a7dc88b677478d0024d2424 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: wwwutz personal clanker Date: Fri, 9 Oct 2026 14:22:13 +0200 Subject: [PATCH 1/2] mission-center: monitor networking without NetworkManager magpie's network module (platform-linux/src/network/) hard-depended on org.freedesktop.NetworkManager over D-Bus for everything except raw byte counters. This repository does not package NetworkManager, so NetworkCache::new() always failed to connect and the Network page showed nothing at all, not even throughput. Replace every NetworkManager-only piece with its native Linux equivalent instead: MAC address/connection kind/link state from sysfs (/sys/class/net//{address,type,wireless,operstate,...}), IPv4/IPv6 addresses via getifaddrs(3), and SSID/frequency/bitrate/signal strength via nl80211 (generic netlink, same as iw/wpa_supplicant/NetworkManager itself), using the new neli-wifi dependency. This also drops the module's zbus/ system-bus dependency entirely. Verified against this machine's real interfaces: correct MAC, link state, IPv4 address, link speed and byte counters, with zero NetworkManager or D-Bus involvement (confirmed "NetworkManager" no longer appears anywhere in the built binary).
