Is there a way to use the pkg-scripts on a different architecture like ppc64le? Do the package directory names simply need to include the architecture name?

Hmm. I'm sure the set of packages available on the different architectures would diverge anyway because building and fixing bugs on another architecture would be an extra effort and we work on as-needed basis anyway. Plus the build results might be different from the user perspective and provide a different set of commands or ABI.
Maybe copy the whole machinery to a separate repository and nfs export instead?
