build dependency for arping and I see refs to qt5, and samba, but maybe the use builtins.

Yeah, you're on the right side, maybe we could burn it but it's always the same: PKG A needs PKG B for build and if you statically link, there's no need for PKG B to be left in the system. Don't know how to solve this nicely.

Ah, okay. Wasn't aware, we have arping. OTOH, arping was built without this library in the past. Are you trying to update arping and a newer version requires the library?

arping used to build with libnet-1.0... somehow 8-) anyway, that failed. new version wanted 1.1+
