Francesco's publication will require support for three different kinds of footnotes, which would ideally be grouped and numbered independently with different counters and symbols.

For example, something like:

1 ...
2 ...
3 ...

a ...
b ...
c ...

I've updated the example to more directly reflect Francesco's minimum viable product.
