The printer output of a PDF document is garbled, screen output is fine. What’s wrong?

If the problem persists after rebooting your Mac, one possible reason could be a damaged printer application. In order to repair it, just move the corresponding icon found in ~/Library/Printers (the Printers folder located inside the Library folder in your home folder) into the Trash. Next time you are printing to the affected printer, the printer application will be recreated, and the output from the printer should be correct again.
